Bridges
Bridges can be used to replace one or two missing teeth by using crowns on adjacent healthy teeth to support the false tooth. The bridge is made out of gold, porcelain fused to precious metal and again the new all ceramic materials can be used. A bridge is fixed into place in the same way as a crown.
Resin-retained bridges are minimal intervention type of 'adhesive bridge'. Instead of drilling the adjacent tooth to make a crown to support the false tooth, a false tooth made in porcelain with a wing which is bonded (stuck on) to the back surface of an adjacent tooth. Some preparation of the supporting teeth is required but this is minimal and doesn't usually require an anesthetic.
